Sleep dosage for Valerian

To enjoy the benefits of a result sleep, you can brew a mug of 2-3 grams of Valerian Root (link to the how to page?). If you wish to extend your evening routine you can go 3 mugs without many issues (totaling around 9 grams of brewed Valerian Root).

When taking Valerian capsules, instructions on the packaging usually dictate a Valerian dosage of taking two capsules. Depending on make and brand this should total up to one gram.

Can you get high on Valerian?

Two capsules (1 gram in total) are usually enough to help you get to sleep quickly. Studies have shown there is no additional benefit to consuming more than a gram a night. It’s also possible consuming more than 1 gram will leave the person “slightly drowsy and more sleepy” (1).

People who are trying to avoid strong and addictive pharmaceuticals like benzodiazepines. Usually try a mild Valerian dose of 1.5 grams. As both drugs affect the GABA system in the body it can bring on very light similarities.

Taking too much Valerian can lead to nausea, vomiting and jitters.

Anxiety dosage for Valerian

The recommended Valerian dose for anxiety is suggested to be taken in small and frequent amounts throughout the day. Usually no more than 450mg, 3 times a day. Taking more than this amount has the potential to make you drowsy.
